I thank Abba, my
Father, for setting His seal on me and making me His own. God’s love
has been poured into my heart and it is this love which makes me reach
out to people. My commitment to my Institute and the apostolate which I
am engaged in is all because of Jesus, my Saviour. May my life make a
difference to the lives of others.

As a tree by the water grows - in spite of drought all around it - so
too I, by drawing upon the life of Christ, grow into His strength and
beauty on my life’s journey. Religious life for me is daily energizing
through the resurrecting life of Christ made real in me by His Spirit.
I experience the state of transformation where I feel worthwhile just as
I am.

“I have called
YOU by name and
YOU are mine”
I joined the Institute to show my gratitude
for the numberless blessings and His closeness to me. There is nowhere
else I would live than here by His side, so that His joy might be in me
and my joy might be full.

Looking back on the golden years of my joyful surrender, I can only
exclaim: ‘How faithful and wonderful you have been to me, Lord!’ What an
exciting, fulfilling and challenging life, mine has been. When you
realize who has chosen you and whose hand you hold, you just walk
blissfully in the joy and strength of the Lord.

I joined the Institute of the Poor Sisters of Our Lady on June 5, 1982,
23 years ago. Though a number of people discouraged me from joining the
convent, I did what a gentle inner voice told me to do. My only
intention to be a Religious Sister was and is, to love God dearly and to
love His humanity. Though at times I did feel the need of having my own
family, my own home, etc. I also realized that having renounced the joy
of marriage, I have instead the King of Kings as my beloved spouse;
instead of having one or two children, I have countless children to care
for, to love and be loved by; instead of having a single family, I am at
home in every house I enter.

I thank God for choosing me to be His own. With His grace, with faith
and prayer I have served the Lord for the past 35 years in this
Institute. The secret of my happiness is my commitment and obedience to
God’s will and the authority of my Superiors. May I continue to be an
instrument of Christ’s light to the world, especially to the poor who
need us most.

My call to the religious life, has made me more sensitive to God’s
presence in my life and aware of His designs for me. I have come to
know Him as a person in my life whom I am learning to trust more and
more. He calls me to share His life, His values and His mission. This
has been very challenging. I love to see His face in others
especially in the poor and marginalized.

As
a teenager, I had a dream – to do something in life where I would be
fully involved without strings attached. That dream became reality when
I decided to join the Institute of the Poor Sisters of Our Lady in
1994. However, when it came to a renewal of vows after my first
profession, I experienced a crisis of indecision as to whether I was
really called to a professed life in this Institute. Faith helped me
cope and I was able to see clearly what I wanted to do. Today, when I
look back, I strongly believe that there was and is a powerful force at
work in me – the mighty hand of God that has been with me at every step
of my religious life. Today, I have no second thoughts

As I walked into Divya Prabha, it felt so good – to be among these
special children who have been rescued off the streets. I feel that I
am a mother to some, a sister to many and a friend to others. More than
this, I have the opportunity to be the hands, eyes, face and heart of
Christ – a unique opportunity and experience which I enjoy as a member
of the Institute of the Poor Sisters of Our Lady.

You did not
choose me but I choose you [John 15: 16]
Yes, what I am
today, a religious its purely because of the Lord's choice. So I depend
on him for everything and each day I determine to dedicate myself with
devotion to the lord, who assures me of his constant help and
companionship.
